Purpose of the role

Overview of the role:  

Zoological Society of London (ZSL) Nepal is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and ecosystems. Our initiatives span across research, community engagement, species conservation, and education. The Program Associate will play a key role in supporting the implementation of ZSL Nepal’s IWT supported project in Tribeni Nepal.

The Program Associate will provide essential support to the Program Officer in the execution of various program activities. This role involves event organization, fieldwork, data collection, report preparation, and communication assistance, ensuring that ZSL Nepal’s conservation efforts are implemented efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities:  

  • Assist the Program Officer in planning, organizing, and conducting workshops, meetings, training sessions, and other program-related events.
  • Coordinate logistics such as venue booking, transportation, materials preparation, and catering arrangements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of events, including attendance records, minutes, and reports.
  • Liaise with participants, partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Conduct regular field visits to support the Program Officer in implementing awareness campaigns, community outreach programs, and conservation activities.
  • Assist in engaging with local communities, stakeholders, and partner organizations during field visits to promote conservation awareness.
  • Participate in the distribution of educational materials, conducting surveys, and facilitating community-based workshops and events.
  • Maintain records of program activities and outcomes in an organized manner.
  • Assist in the collection of field data related to illegal wildlife trade and community engagement.
  • Compile and organize collected data for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Assist the respected Officer in preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the respected Officer in maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, partner organizations, and donors.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual report and communication materials, such as newsletters, hoarding boards, social media updates, and press releases, to raise awareness about program activities and achievements.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Social Science, Arts, Communication or a related field.
  •  Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Nepali and English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to remote field locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Skills of photography and photoshops as advantages.
