Our Benefits

Whether based in the UK or in our international country conservation hubs, staff have access to a blended program of wellbeing, financial, and organisational benefits throughout their careers.

The combination of benefits for staff varies from country to country, depending on the needs of our people in each location. The recruitment and HR teams in each office location can advise on the benefits applicable to the vacancy you are interested in.

Our most common benefit combinations include:

Our vision and purpose

You’ll work alongside colleagues who are passionate about science-led conservation. Whether working directly in conservation or animal care, to supporting our teams in an office environment, you know that you will help us to inspire, inform, and empower people to stop wildlife going extinct.

Work flexibility and family-friendly policies

  • In all of our locations, our people are entitled to enhanced annual leave. In this UK this is 25 days paid annual leave, plus bank holiday entitlement
  • Family friendly policies – we offer enhanced paternity and maternity leave above the statutory minimum in the UK
  • We promote flexible working arrangements where roles allow hybrid or remote working, supported further by part-time options or job sharing. Speak to us during the recruitment process to find out more.

Wellbeing

  • Access to our 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Belong to a global team that values inclusivity, diversity and is committed to decolonising conservation and science
  • We offer regular webinars and activities around mental, physical, social, and financial wellbeing

Financial benefits

  • A generous stakeholder pension (employer contribution is up to 12%), life assurance, and medical insurances, dependent on location
  • Fair and transparent pay as we launch our global salary scales in 2024, ensuring we have a transparent and equitable approach across our global locations

Working life

  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities, and our historic Prince Philip Zoological Library & Archives
  • Support with your transport to work through a season ticket loan or cycle to work scheme

Access to our UK conservation zoos

  • A regular allocation of complimentary zoo tickets
  • 30% discount in our shops and online
