Purpose of the role

As a Visitor Shuttle Driver at Whipsnade Zoo, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and accessible experience for guests. Your primary responsibility will be transporting visitors safely and efficiently around the zoo, ensuring excellent customer service throughout their journey.

In addition, you will support site presentation by assisting with general upkeep tasks and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the shuttle vehicle to uphold ZSL’s high standards. This is a hands-on, visitor-facing role that directly contributes to a positive and memorable guest experience.

This role is offered on a part-time basis at 18 hours per week, for a fixed term of 26 weeks during the zoo’s busy season.
 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Visitor Transportation: Safely drive and operate the visitor shuttle service, ensuring timely and courteous pick-up and drop-off of guests around Whipsnade Zoo, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable visitor experience.
  • Site Support: Assist with general site presentation tasks as needed, helping to maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of the zoo to the highest standards.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Take responsibility for the daily cleanliness, presentation, and basic upkeep of the shuttle vehicle, ensuring it is always ready for operation and represents ZSL's commitment to excellence.

About You

  • A full, clean driving licence is essential. Due to insurance requirements, applicants must be over 25 and have held their licence for a minimum of two years.
  • Friendly, welcoming, and confident in engaging with a wide range of visitors.
  • Promotes ZSL’s core values in all interactions with colleagues and visitors alike. 
  • Willing and able to work some weekends as part of a regular schedule.
