Purpose of the role

Join the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) as our Email Marketing Executive and help us deliver powerful digital communications that support our mission to restore wildlife and inspire conservation.

Every role at ZSL plays a part in this mission, and as Email Marketing Executive, you’ll be at the heart of how we engage and grow our audiences.

In this dynamic role, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of email and app push notification campaigns. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you’ll ensure our communications are timely, targeted, and effective. You’ll build and optimise automated customer journeys, contribute to campaign planning, and use performance insights to drive continuous improvement. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your digital marketing skills to make a real impact, for wildlife and for people.

Key responsibilities:  

  • Campaign Execution and KPI Delivery: Manage the day-to-day email marketing programme ensuring delivery of campaign KPIs and own the app push notification campaign plan and delivery.
  • Audience Segmentation and Messaging Strategy: Ensure each audience segmentation receives appropriate communications paying particular attention to the quality and frequency of messaging.
  • Content Development for Newsletters: Work with the Email Marketing Manager to develop ideas and content for the ZSL Zoos newsletter to promote the Zoos and events.
  • Customer Journey Automation: Build, develop and maintain customer journeys through campaign automation.
  • Campaign Planning and Calendar Management: Manage the email marketing calendar and work with the Email Marketing Manager to produce campaign plans.

About You

  • Proven experience of managing email marketing campaigns.
  • A good understanding audience segmentation for targeting and personalisation.
  • Good working knowledge of email service provider platforms and delivery of email marketing programmes (knowledge of DotDigital, Tessitura or ActiveCampaign would be beneficial).
  • Experience of reporting on campaigns to demonstrate impact through email marketing activity.
  • A creative thinker who will help develop ideas and content to promote ZSL to an email audience.
  • Understanding of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how this applies to customer data.
  • Excellent English language and copy writing skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to co-ordinate multiple activities to deliver against deadlines.
