Purpose of the role

As a Visitor Activities Host, you’ll be at the heart of connecting people with wildlife. From welcoming our London Zoo Lodge guests to leading daily activities, talks, and seasonal events, your enthusiasm will make every visit truly memorable.

We’re looking for passionate individuals who love delivering exceptional customer experiences and sharing the wonders of the animal kingdom. You’ll be an essential part of our Engagement and Overnight Experience teams, guiding visitors safely through immersive habitats, bringing our daily experiences to life, and helping create magical moments that inspire a deeper connection with wildlife.

This is a part-time role, averaging 15 hours per week with a pro-rata salary of £10,844.55. As our zoos are open seven days a week, your schedule will follow a rotating rota, including weekends and bank holidays. You’ll need to be available for at least one weekend day per week, which may include early mornings or late evenings, in addition to standard zoo hours. We aim to balance business needs with personal flexibility, providing advance notice of your shifts so you can plan your time effectively.

Key responsibilities:  

  • Visitor Ambassador: Create a welcoming, safe, and inspiring environment for our guests, encouraging them to connect with wildlife through engaging tours, talks, and interactions.
  • Premium Experience Delivery: Provide exceptional customer service during the London Zoo Lodge experience, supporting hospitality and Front of House when needed.
  • Talks & Activities: Lead and deliver a range of exciting daily talks and activities, engaging visitors and bringing the animal world to life.
  • Safeguarding Visitors and Wildlife: Ensure the health & safety, welfare and security of visitors and animals on site, dealing calmly and effectively with visitor emergencies and sensitive situations.

 

About You

  • You have experience and a passion for delivering exceptional visitor experiences, with the ability to communicate science and conservation topics to diverse audiences.
  • You thrive in dynamic environments and have experience in customer service or similar roles.
  • You have a solid understanding of science, animal welfare, or conservation, and may have relevant qualifications or work experience in these fields.
  • You’re great at building relationships, staying calm under pressure, and working both independently and as part of a team, even in outdoor conditions.
A DBS check is required as part of the role.  This role is subject to standard pre-employment checks, including confirmation of your right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
