Purpose of the role

We’re looking for a Recruitment Administrator to support hiring managers across our two conservation zoos, the Institute of Zoology, and our global conservation hubs. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers.

You'll play a key role in attracting top talent, guiding managers through the full recruitment cycle, and ensuring smooth, efficient processes. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders across the UK and internationally, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to building the future of one of the world’s leading conservation organisations.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days per week in the office at Regent's Park and occasional visits to the Whipsnade office.

Key responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidate and hiring manager queries by monitoring the shared recruitment inbox, responding promptly with helpful guidance on topics such as reasonable adjustments, references, job postings, and applicant tracking system access.
  • Contribute to the development of recruitment practices by sharing insights, feedback, and lessons learned to improve current processes, striving for continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Administer the recruitment cycle with precision, ensuring all information is accurate and maintained to the highest standards throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to craft engaging and accurate job advertisements, ensuring they align with ZSL's standards and are posted on relevant job boards.
  • Advise hiring managers on recruitment best practices, ensuring compliance with ZSL's policies and procedures to maintain a fair and consistent hiring process.
  • Provide 1:1 support and training to managers, coaching them on using the applicant tracking system, implementing recruitment practices, and adhering to safe and fair recruitment guidelines.

About You

  • Previous experience in delivering high-quality administrative support, preferably within a Recruitment, HR, or people team.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems to manage the recruitment cycle (knowledge of Eploy or iTrent is a plus).
  • Proven ability to handle confidential employee data in compliance with GDPR standards.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both candidates and managers across ZSL through strong written and oral communication.
  • Capable of problem-solving and seeking continuous improvements in administrative tasks and processes to enhance team efficiency.
  • A solid understanding of UK employment legislation, HR best practices, and regulations, with the ability to guide or signpost when necessary.

This role is subject to standard pre-employment checks, including the candidate's right to work in the UK.
