Purpose of the role

Are you ready to make a real impact at London Zoo? As our Grounds & Logistics Site Presentation Operative, you'll play a vital role in keeping the zoo looking its best and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all our visitors. Working mainly during school holidays, public holidays and special events like Zoo Nights across an annualised hour contract, you'll tackle a range of hands-on tasks—everything from site cleaning and waste management to supporting exciting zoo events. If you're physically fit, enjoy working outdoors, and are devoted to delivering top-notch customer care, this dynamic role could be perfect for you!

Key responsibilities:  

  • Outer perimeter litter picking and carpark checks that involve litter removal and public bin changing. 
  • Weeding of areas using tools and upkeeping monuments across site.
  • Litter picking across the London Zoo site front of house areas.
  • Public onsite bin changing and ensuring bins are accessible and presentable for visitors.

About You

  • Familiarity in using MS office packages, specifically Outlook and Word or equivalent software packages will be acceptable.
  • Experience in ground maintenance that involves site cleanliness and hygiene procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills working part of a large and diverse team.
  • Able to follow a process and work on their own initiative.
  • Able to approach each task with a professional attitude.
  • Physically fit and able to work on feet throughout shift and carryout manual handling tasks.
