As an Finance and Admin Assistant, you’ll provide essential administrative and coordination support to help our team deliver a range of projects, including Tackling Climate Change through Health-Oriented Policy Interventions in Coastal Marinescapes.
This research project, led by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in partnership with the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), addresses the interlinked challenges of climate change and health in the Philippines' coastal marinescapes, with a geographic focus on Palawan. While existing research has focused mainly on the biophysical dimensions of marine ecosystems, this project fills a critical socioeconomic gap by building the evidence base for health-oriented policy responses — examining how mangroves support human health and livelihoods, and how sustainable Marine Protected Area (MPA) and fisheries management can be designed in a just and equitable way for small-scale fishers.
Using a mixed-methods approach — combining desk review, stakeholder consultations, surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions — the project will generate a peer-reviewed journal article, two policy briefs, and a high-level policy dialogue with Philippine and UK stakeholders, including DENR, ADB, and FCDO. Funded through the UK's International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) Challenge-Oriented Research Grants, the research supports the Philippines' national Blue Economy Agenda and strengthens UK-Philippines collaboration on climate, health, and ocean resilience.
